Edeh Sylvester Chisom now popularly known as “Mc Monica” was born in Nnewi, Anambra State, in Okpunoegbu Umudim village.
How Old Is MC Monica?
MC Monica is 31 years old, he was born on September 10, 1993
He is the last child in a family of 3 boys and 4 girls.
MC Monoca’s Parents,
Mr Cyprain and Mrs Calista Edeh, his parents, hail from Ikem Isi Uzo Local Government Area Of Enugu State. MC Monica’s dad was a bricklayer and his mum was a butcher.
MC Monica CFRN gained attention for her appearance in a comedy skit titled “Nigeria Don Tinubu” on the Pencil Unbroken Show.
The Comedian got more attention after Sabinus also known as Mr Funny who is his childhood friend gifted him a brand new car.
MC Monica’s Education
Mc Monica attended St Stephen Model Nursery and Primary School in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state where he graduated in 2005 before proceeding to Okongwu Memorial Grammar School where he finished in 2011 as one of the best students in arts.
When Did MC Monica Start Comedy
He started developing his comedy skills in secondary school. There were times his teachers would even invite him to the staff room to make them laugh due to his funny nature.
That was how he started building his desire to be a comedian and that desire materialized at Bayelsa State University when he started attending shows organized in school and outside the school.
In 2012 Mc Monica got admission into Bayelsa State University to study Fine and Applied Arts. In 2013 he started gaining attention on campus and off campus and he went by the stage name “Mc Dimoma” then.
How Did MC Monica Come Up With The Name Monica?
A girl in his department nicknamed him Monica due to his reaction to things concerning morning implying that he is stingy with money and the name stuck. The name Monica stuck so hard that one time he went to an event and Mc Yangapikin mistakenly introduced him on stage as Mc Monica. Noticing that the latter name had more reception than the former, he decided to switch.
Mc Monica went on to win the Best Comedian award in his department and faculty and in 2015 I was named the Best Comedian in the entire university. Still chasing his dreams in his formative years, he went for the Opa Williams Nite Of A Thousand Laughs audition Bayelsa audition, and came out top tie with Funny Efizzy. They were both given the opportunity to share the stage with groundbreaking comedians like; I Go Dye, Acapella, FunnyBone, etc.
The quest to create my own system led to the creation of the brand Mr Dim Concepts, which is an extraction of my initial stage name “Mc Dimoma”. Mr Dim Concept was formed by him and a few coursemates and together they put up a comedy show with the tag “STARCH YOUR TEETH” which featured the likes of Mc Shakara, Aproko, Senibo, and other comic geniuses.
The event was held at Amassoma Town Hall, attracting over 1000 guests.
After winning those awards at NDU successively with a successful show just under wraps, He decided to chase a lifelong dream – something he had always wanted to do even whilst living with his parents.
Being the only graduate out of 8 children, Mc Monica had promised God that if He took him through school successfully, He would make sure he assisted other children to achieve their educational dreams as going through school up to the university level was a major challenge.
On the 25th of September, 2016 he launched “D Children Must Chop”, a project aimed at tackling hunger and encouraging education amongst children in the suburbs of Nigeria and Africa at large.
On its inauguration, he and his partners visited orphanage homes In Yenagoa, prisons, and also aged women in Sagbama, all in Bayelsa state.
Between 2016 and 2021, Mc Monica and his partners visited over 13 of the 36 states in the federation, where they reached out to over 10,000 children with educational materials, food and clothing spanning Rivers (Portharcourt) Delta (Warri), Oyo (Ibadan), Ondo (Akure), Lagos, Katsina, Abuja, Edo (Benin), Enugu, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Cross River (Calabar), Jos etc.
Recently “D Children Must Chop” was officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as the Edeh Sylvester Chisom Foundation.
Under Mr Dim concept he also launched “FROMNDU2DWORLD” an idea aimed at celebrating graduates of the Niger Delta University making giant strides in different spheres of life. The event has had 2 editions thus far, hosting the vice chancellor and so many top dignitaries all over the country.
2020 witnessed the grand return of “STARCH UR TEETH”, as a mainstream event in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. It was floated with the hashtag #MadeInBayelsa which instantly became the talk of the town. The event was the cynosure of all eyes as it trended beyond south-southern Nigeria to different parts of the country.
The comedy show hosted top intriguing performers including Mc Shakara, Klint D Drunk, Mr Funny (Sabinus), Coxson, Payper Corleone, Zee, and a lot of others
The second edition of this hit comedy show was on December 5th, 2021 with the tag #ItzTheJoke4Me
Over the years Mr Dim Concept has produced the likes of John Kennedy, the sole convener of Comic Opera – one of Bayela’s biggest comedy shows. It has produced the magnanimous Kelsey Wokoma of KTTT Events amongst others.
Mr Dim Concepts also houses a company named DIMSWEAR situated in Jeddo, Delta state which specializes in all kinds of fashion branding including T-shirts, sweatshirts, and cap customization.
The objective of MR DIMS CONCEPT is to be the leading entertainment and business company in Nigeria shortly. They also plan to remain on course in tackling hunger and encouraging quality education among children not only in Nigeria and Africa but the world at large.
