The Nigerian entertainment industry is so crowded with fantastic talents that one can barely identify a unique talent but klint the drunk or Klint da Drunk no doubt stands out in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a good singer actor and a unique comedian. Klint the drunk plays a character of a drunk and has maintained that character since day one of his over 20 years career in the Nigerian comedy industry.
Actors or anyone who have played a character in a Nollywood movie would understand how difficult it is to play and stay in a periocular character for a long time especially when the character you are playing is contrast to your original character.
Let’s do the mathematics guys, talented Klint de drunk have been relevant for more than 20years in Nigerian entertainment industry. He came into limelight following his first appearance on Nigga Raw who is Now Mr Raw’s song called ‘Obodo’ and he became a public figure or his comedy career became prominent after he performed in the popular comedy show called ‘Night of Thousand Laugh’ by Opa Williams in the year 2000.
Klint Da Drunk has also performed at least four (4) times in a week that is sixteen (16) times in a month and one hundred and ninty two (192) times in a year, then one hundred and ninety two, then in twenty (20) years is three thousand eight hundred and forty (3840) times. Guys, three thousand eight hundred and forty times of being on stage and each of those times he has been on stage he acts drunk and the interesting thing is that Klint de drunk does not take alcohol.
Those who have watch Klint de drunk perform know that his stagger is far from normal.
Let’s talk about his dressing to the stage; Klint de drunk will wear a shirt and button the shirt wrongly, most times he would wear a plain office trousers or pair of pants and fold one to his shin and the other trouser leg only reach his ankle, then with a face that caricatures a man in stupor, he would hit his chest as though he is struggling not to vomit and then starts picking on people or performing what ever jokes he has prepared for the audience.
Klint Da Drunk whose real names are Afamefuna Klint Igwemba said in an interview with OU Entertainments that his stage name ‘Klint da Drunk started from a role he played in a Nollywood movie titled ‘Ikuku’ where he played the role of a drunk and the character sold the movie and he then decided to keep the name as it differentiated him from hundreds of other comedians in the Nigerian comedy industry.
The Nigerian comic star has contributed to the general growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry immensely and have performed with the A-list celebrities in the Nigerian comedy industry like; AY, I Go Die, I Go Save, Gordons, Funny Bone, Ali Baba, twocantok, Basket Mouth, Bovi, Ushbebe and many more, and have as well acted some Nollywood movies like; Destroyer, Men on the run, Chain Reaction, Bond, Lost Kingdom, Star girl, Dry, My house help, Price of deciet among others.
