‘We’re cool’ – Mayorkun on relationship with Davido

Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, spoke on his relationship with Davido.

In the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast hosted by actor Temisan Emmanuel Ahwieh, aka Taymesan, Mayorkun revealed that contrary to people popular opinion about his relationship with former record label boss, Davido, since exiting Davido Music Worldwide, DMW. He and Davido have “one of the best relationships.”

The ‘Mayor Of Lagos’ crooner also mentioned that fans think they are not cool because he doesn’t flaunt his relationship with Davido on social media.

In his words, “Contrary to what other people think, I have one of the best relationships with Davido. I feel like he knows me and he understands the kind of person I am. If I dey vex for am now, he knows… Like do you understand? I’m not that difficult of a human being.

“It’s just that I’m not posting Davido everyday, saying he’s my best friend, that’s why some people think we are not cool. The relationship is not for you [fans]. You always forget that.”

ou entertainments recalls that Davido signed Mayorkun to his record label, DMW, where he released his debut single, ‘Eleko’ and became more recognized.

Two years later, he won the Next Rated category at The Headies which solidified his stardom. In 2021, Mayorkun left Davido’s record label ‘DMW’.
