Asake May Not Win A Grammy – OU Mackson

Asake is one of the hottest musical stars we have in Nigeria and in Africa at large but Asake may not win a Grammy award at least not with his present style of music.

Asake’s talent and potential are undeniable, however there are several significant factors that may stand in the way of Asake achieving a Grammy Award now.

1.Recognition Across Nations

The star has hit songs back to back and and has sold out the biggest event space in London; The O2 Arena like Wizkid, Davido and Burna boy yet most international blogs still refer to him as a fast rising star in the music industry, the question is Why? Asake’s meteoric rise has led to widespread acclaim, and many fans ‘Yes’ but where? Most of Asake’s fans are in Nigeria, few African countries, and Nigerians in London.

  1. Competition Across The World

The music industry all over the world is an intensely competitive field, with thousands of talented artists competing for recognition in the Grammys as the Grammy Awards is the most prestigious international award in the music industry.

  1. Duration So Far

Asake’s relatively short time in the industry may put him at a disadvantage compared to more seasoned artists with extensive bodies of work competing for the Grammys as well.

  1. Limited Discography

To win a Grammy, an artist needs a substantial body of work that showcases their versatility and impact on the music industry around the world. Asake as of now haven’t gotten the significantly extensive discography for Grammy radar. Releasing more albums and singles would help his case, but it could take years to establish a formidable presence.

  1. Genre and Category Selection

Asake’s Music is different. It is a combination of different genres. Some say his genre is afro hip-up, some say it’s Afro rap, some others say it’s simply Afro streets which is difficult to describe or ascribe to a category, therefore, selecting the right category for Grammy submissions is crucial. A wrong category selection can result in less visibility and fewer chances of winning.

  1. Industry Politics

The Grammy Awards are not just about talent; they also involve a fair amount of industry politics. Factors like record label support, public relations efforts, and relationships with key industry figures can influence an artist’s chances of winning a Grammy. Asake would need a very strong  political industry inclusive boss to navigate the politics effectively to secure a nomination and eventual win.

  1. Awards History

Since the history of the Grammy Awards they have often favored more mainstream and established artists. Asake’s relatively recent emergence on the music scene may mean that he has yet to establish the kind of industry presence that the Grammy voters typically favor.

  1. In conclusion, Asake’s talent and creativity have projected him to a very promising position artist in the music industry, but he needs more than just talent to get a Grammy Award. Fierce competition, limited discography, industry politics, category selection, and Grammy’s historical bias towards established artists are all hurdles that he must overcome. Nevertheless, in the ever-evolving music world, opportunities can arise unexpectedly, and Asake’s dedication and talent may lead him to Grammy success in the future. Only time will tell if he can overcome these obstacles on his path to musical greatness, we hope and pray Mr Money gets a Grammy soon.
