Falz shares how he was attacked almost killed on a highway in Abuja
Popular Nigerian rapper Falz recounted how he was attacked together with his friends by armed robbers, which almost cost him his life.
During an interview with “untapped”, Falz made this revelation where he stated that he and two of his friends were involved in the November 16, 2013, incident on an Abuja highway, which resulted in the death of their driver.
The rapper recounted that the incident happened as they were traveling to an Abuja wedding where Falz was scheduled to perform. He said he and his friends started saying their final prayers because they felt like they were going to die too.
He also claimed that Falz was paid a million dollars by the client to perform at the wedding, making it an important wedding in the North. They were going to travel by plane, but they did not purchase their tickets in time, a friend of his suggested they travel by road, which is what they did.
Falz also claimed that one of his friends expressed disapproval of them journeying by road and asked the rapper to pray before they continued, He however erased the thought because it was during the day.
He and his friends also cautioned the driver about the way he was driving and he promised to make adjustments, so they fell asleep.They were awoken by a loud bang and they saw a man holding a gun in the middle of the road; it appeared he had fired three shots at their car three times, with the third round hitting their driver in the eye.
Describing the situation, Falz said:
“We see this turban tying, AK47 welding, dangerous-looking men in the middle of the expressway maybe like 5, we could not count; they were directly shooting at our car everything was happening within seconds, so fast from the first bullet coming to us waking up, the second bullet coming to us taking cover, to the third one that hit the driver in the eye.”
